St Marks College,
The College of St Mark is signposted about 150 yards east from the main entrance to Audley End House. The map shows main routes to the area. Please show consideration for our neighbours and for the safety of residents and visitors.
Please respect the 10mph speed limit through Audley End Village.
Coaches should approach St Mark’s via Wenden Road (see map) to avoid weight restrictions on the hump back bridge by Audley End House.
Coaches are asked to set down at and pick up at the top of Audley End Village.
Coaches must not drive through Audley End Village under any circumstances.
Leave at Junction 8 and follow signs for Stansted and Newport, [northwards]. After leaving Newport, continue northwards for a further mile.
Do not turn right at the round-about, but turn right further on at the brown tourist sign “Audley End House – all traffic” - by “The Fighting Cocks” pub.
At the top of the hill turn left towards Audley End House. Turn left at the top of Audley End Village. Coaches should drop passengers and luggage here. Cars may drive slowly through the village to the driveway and car park of St. Marks. For additional parking and access to the Abbey Barn turn left at the bottom of the drive following the track around the boundary wall. The carpark is on the right as you pass the Abbey barn.
Exit at Junction 10 and follow signs for Saffron Walden. (There is no southbound exit from Junction 9).
After the A11 interchange roundabouts, (*) follow brown tourist signs for Audley End House, through Great Chesterford and Littlebury. About 1 mile after Littlebury, turn left at the sign for Audley End House, pass the main entrance to the House, then turn right at the sign for College of St. Mark.
Coaches should NOT take this left turn to Audley End House [due to a hump back bridge], but continue on the main road south, turning left along Wenden Road (see map) and set down at the top of Audley End Village.
From Colchester and Braintree via A120, or from Chelmsford via A130, to Dunmow, then follow B184 through Thaxted to Saffron Walden.
Immediately on entering Saffron Walden, turn left at the mini-roundabout, at the Lord Butler Leisure Centre on the left, into Peaslands Road for half a mile. Continue straight across the crossroads into Borough Lane, turn left at the first mini-roundabout, and immediately take the right hand exit at the second, following sign for Audley End. Cross zebra-crossing and pass the Saffron Walden County High School on the left, and then take the second left at the sign for College of St. Mark.
The nearest railway station is Audley End, situated in the village of Wendens Ambo, on the main London Liverpool Street-Cambridge Line. This is also accessible from other parts of East Anglia (e.g. Peterborough & King’s Lynn) via Cambridge. Audley End Station is about 1.5 miles by road from the College. A minibus pick–up is possible, if requested in advance, or taxis are usually available at the station.
