St. Mark's College is easily accessible by road, only ten minutes from the M11; and by rail, with Audley End Station close by (on the Liverpool Street to Cambridge line); and by air, Stansted Airport is less than thirty minutes away. St. Mark's is signposted about 200 yards from the main entrance to Audley End House. The map below shows main routes to the area.  Please show consideration for our neighbours and for the safety of residents and visitors.  Drive slowly and carefully through the Village at Audley End and up the drive to St. Mark’s.

Coaches should approach the College via Wenden Road (see attached map) to avoid weight restrictions on the bridge at Audley End House. Coaches are not allowed through the village under any circumstances. Please park before the speed bump at the top of the village by the Post Office (at the grass triangle by the St. Mark’s College signpost) to set down and pick up only. All day coach parking is available in Saffron Walden.

VIA M11 FROM THE SOUTH - Leave at Junction 8 and follow signs for Bishops Stortford and then signs for Newport on the B1383. After leaving Newport, continue for a further mile and turn right at the brown tourist sign “Audley End House –  all traffic”. At the end of this road (about 1.5 miles) turn left, then left again at the sign for St. Mark’s College.

VIA M11 FROM THE NORTH - Exit at Junction 10 and follow signs for Saffron Walden (There is no exit from Junction 9 travelling southbound). Then follow brown tourist signs for Audley End House. About 1 mile after Littlebury, turn left at the sign for Audley End House, pass the main entrance to the House, then turn right at the sign for St. Mark’s College. Coaches should go on to Wenden Road to avoid weight restriction on bridge (see above).

FROM SOUTH AND EAST ESSEX - From Colchester and Braintree via A120 or from Chelmsford via A130 to Dunmow. Then follow B184 through Thaxted to Saffron Walden. On the outskirts of Saffron Walden, turn left immediately past the Lord Butler Leisure Centre into Peaslands Road, roundabout, and straight on at the second roundabout, following sign for Audley End. Pass the County High School on the left, then take the second left at the sign for St. Mark’s College.

BY RAIL - The nearest railway station is Audley End, on the main Liverpool Street–Cambridge Line. This is also accessible from other parts of East Anglia (e.g. Peterborough and King’s Lynn) via Cambridge. Please note that not all trains on this line stop at Audley End. Audley End Station is about 1.5 miles from St. Mark’s. A minibus pick-up is available if requested in advance (tel 01799 522006), or taxis are usually available at the station.
